Teng Zi Ying always had a love for the arts. At Tanjong Katong Girls’ School, she was in the pioneer batch taking Drama as a GCE O level subject. Inspired by her love for drama, she applied for the Singapore Polytechnic’s Applied Drama and Psychology course. Having been selected as SP scholar and recipient of the Model Student Award, she is glad that she fought for her dream. She received the Low Guan Onn Gold Medal as well as the Asian Women’s Welfare Association Gold Medal and Shell Companies in Singapore Prize.

During her polytechnic course, Zi Ying applied her acquired knowledge to create programmes that benefitted disempowered communities which include children from disadvantaged backgrounds and senior citizens with dementia. She has a strong interest in both global and local issues and participated in the Harvard Model United Nations Conference. She was also selected to sit on the Ministry of Educations’s Professional Wing journey where she gave her views on education. (Read more about Zi Ying  here... )
